Kunda Kids

About the Startup

The parent company, Kunda Kids Limited, was incorporated in the United Kingdom on the 29th of June 2020, and a subsidiary company in Nigeria on the 2nd of August, 2021. The company was incorporated to provide educational and fun content and resources to promote literacy, bolster self-esteem, and celebrate Africa’s rich history and diverse culture for children between 2 and 11 years old. The platform empowers African children and those interested in African culture with a deeper understanding of their heritage, history, languages, and traditions through engaging content and animations.

Kunda Kids was founded by Oladele Olafuyi and Louisa Kiwana, who own 35.48% of the company shares, respectively. The company had raised a Pre-Seed round of $700,000 from investors like Kaleo VC, HoaQ, Zrosk Investments, Voltron, and Argentil Capital,  amongst other angel investors.

Why was the Startup selected?

Kunda Kids has honed its expertise in crafting child-friendly content, characterized by cross-platform technologies, vibrant, high-quality animation, and illustrations. We believe that these elements serve as the foundation for bolstering learner engagement, ultimately leading to enhanced learning outcomes across diverse segments of their target market. Furthermore, the team is wholly composed of African professionals, responsible for every aspect of product development, illustration, and animation. Through the Venture Studio, Kunda Kids can enhance its literacy content by focusing on pedagogy, age-appropriateness, and curriculum alignment, ensuring tailored and engaging material for users. The studio could facilitate a synergetic partnership with an assessment-focused organization where Kunda Kids’ content can be  leveraged.
