About the Startup

Kytabu was registered in 2012 as Kytabu Company Limited in Nairobi, Kenya. The founders are the only shareholders in the company, with Ndungu Anthony Mwangi holding 70% and Francis Lawson Ndungu holding 30%. The company has a trademark registered on the  18th of November, 2020 which would expire 18th of November, 2030. Ndungu Anthony Mwangi is the CEO and Co-Founder, he is supported by Francis Lawson Ndungu, PHD. who is also a co-founder and plays a strategic role as a member of the board, leveraging his expertise in educational management and governance to guide the team, Boniface Maina Kaniaru who leads Finance and Accounting, Brian Kipkosgei Kimaiyo who leads Software Development, and Edna Gakii Ntongai who leads Curriculum Development. The company has two products: Hodari and Somanasi, both of which are available on Playstore; the company core revenue is from donors so far.

Why was the Startup selected?

Kytabu commits to customizing learning experiences for students via interactive, self-paced content, utilizing this data within the Hodari app to enhance teacher intervention and refine lesson planning. This aspect is currently lacking in the industry and presents a huge scale potential. This interconnectivity is anticipated to enhance FLN learning by synchronizing in-classroom engagement with at-home and remedial learning, broadening the array of touchpoints available to effectively engage and guide learners toward accomplishing their objectives.Startup is yet to monetize teacher-facing solution and through the Venture Studio stands the chance to run large-scale testing including navigating relevant government bureaucracy for which they have indicated need for support.
